So, what is a Humanist ceremony?

Humanist wedding ceremony at Left Bank Leeds

Without meaning to give you a McFly earworm, ‘it’s all about you’. Given that you have had the nouse (that’s Yorkshire, meaning ‘you’re very clever!) to find yourselves here, whether you are planning a Wedding or Naming Ceremony, I imagine/ hope that one or more of the below statements are true:

  • You are looking for something different
  • You don’t want to do what others say you should/ must/ ought to
  • You don’t want to be the same as everyone else
  • You want your ceremony to be memorable and fun and not just the ‘boring bit’ to ‘get out of the way’ before you the ‘real fun’ begins
  • You equally want a ceremony that is beautifully heartfelt and meaningful, reflective of who you are and your values
  • You want a ceremony that is personal and unique, written and delivered by someone you have chosen, gotteb to know and trust explicitly

Whether or not you knew from the outset that you wanted a Humanist ceremony or you have found yourself on the lookout for a celebrant because your dream venue doesn’t have a marriage licence or the local registrar can’t do the date or time you want, you are all very welcome. I am happy to work with all couples and families no matter what brings you here. I am confident that by the end you will be converted to Humanist Ceremonies as a result of your experience! I myself didn’t know about Humanist Ceremonies to be able to choose one when I got married (more on that story here) and I pride myself on being 100% inclusive so you won’t get any shame or judgement coming your way from me if you are not a card carrying Humanist or lifelong dreamer of a Humanist ceremony.

"A unique and highly personal ceremony"

However it is that you have come about looking for a wedding or naming celebrant , you will still be expected to give the same level of input and involvement (sorry/ not sorry for giving you ‘homework’!). It really is a simple case of the more you give the more I can give you back. You won’t find a ‘light touch’ option or replication of a registrar ceremony so if this is what you are looking for, I hope you find your perfect celebrant but I don’t think that is me. That’s not to say I am pricey, I just like to treat all stories with the respect they deserve and pride myself on only offering my very best service to everyone. If you want to see more on my pricing structure, you can find by clicking on the link below.

The process to create a completely unique and personalised ceremony does take time ( both mine and yours) so there will be a written questionnaire and a planning meeting (allow 2- 3 hours) for us to get to know one another and to discuss ideas. This can be wherever works for you; your venue, your home, my local pub here in Barwick-in-Elmet near Leeds, West Yorkshire or even virtually genuinely works just as well (this is how we will meet if you are based outside of the U.K.). If you want to know more about what is involved then please click here.
